The writer’s dystopian crime miniseries The Last Days of American Crime, which he co-created in 2009 with artist Greg Tocchini, has been optioned by Netflix for a feature-length adaptation. The upcoming film will be directed by Olivier Megaton (Colombiana) from a script by Karl Gajdusek (Oblivion). Edgar Ramirez is in negotiations to star in the adaptation as lead character Graham Bricke. First published by Radical Studios, The Last Days of American Crime is the story of a dystopian United States where the government begins broadcasting a signal to prevent the populace from knowingly engage in criminal activity. As the population prepares for the mind-altering signal, Bricke teams up with his girlfriend to stage the last major heist in American history. New editions of the complete miniseries are currently being published by Image Comics. Remender is attached to the project as executive producer with the Netflix production being the second adaptation of his work: His acclaimed Image Comics series Deadly Class, co-created with artist Wes Craig, has been picked up for television by Syfy and is expected to premiere sometime next year.
